The internet is drooling over these 111-year-old elaborate menus from Titanic. Seen them yet? - India Today

By Srimoyee Chowdhury: A century has passed since the ill-fated luxury cruise liner Titanic sunk into the depths of the Atlantic Ocean after a tragic accident. Several reports by research teams, documentaries and a movie later, the ship still holds an aura of enigma.

Now, Taste Atlas has released the elaborate menu that was served onboard the Titanic. The Instagram post has six slides that include pictures of the original menu cards for the first, second and third class passengers of the Titanic.

The post even shows pictures of the dining hall reserved for the passengers according to their tickets. “It has been 111 years since Titanic sank in the North Atlantic on April 15, 1912, while on its maiden voyage. The Titanic was the most luxurious ship afloat and food onboard was a big part of the liner's appeal,” read the caption.

“Curried chicken, baked fish, spring lamb, mutton, and roast turkey were common menu items, as was pudding for dessert. The night the Titanic sank, the doomed second class passengers had plum pudding, also known as Christmas pudding. These were the menus for all three classes,” it added.

Take a look:

The post has garnered close to 3k likes and tons of reactions. People were surprised to see the elaborate menus. Many pointed out how the third class passengers also had lavish meal options, though not as fancy as the first class passengers.

Others couldn’t stop comparing it to the scenes from James Cameron’s 1997 film where Leonardo DiCaprio and Kate Winslet played the roles of two passengers travelling on the ship.
